Meet Mervin Dove
Mervin originally decided to write his story as a keepsake for his children. But after Tales of a Barton Lad gaining an incredible response from the public, Mervin has now taken the decision to share his story with the world. He is a natural storyteller and is currently working on his second book.
Mervin Dove was born in 1941 in North Lincolnshire and spent a varied and playful childhood in Barton upon Humber.
Mervin has had a distinctive and diverse career which involved everything from Tractor Driving, to chimney sweeping, to tanker driving. Inspired by his artistic background, he completed a two-year college course in signwriting and went on to build his reputation part time.
In September 1983, Mervin left Petrofina to pursue his hobby full time. He has never looked back.

Rollin' Back The Years to the late 1940's, Mervin relives his tanker driving days with humorous and honest tales; fuelling up on his favourite pastime, darts and stopping off to deliver fond memories from his traditional sign writing profession.
Mervin's authentic storytelling, presents us with a genuine account of what life was like, living and growing up in the 'good old days'!
